Sometimes if you wanna be happy, just compare yourself with the poorer ones..For example, if you are on your plan to go for a diet, you have all the sexy thin skinny model girls on your desktop or wherever you can see.. But do you really have the urge to be as slim as them? You have in your mind, saying that : THIS IS MY TARGET! I WANNA BE AS SLIM AS HER! MUST!!! But you turned out to be still the same after so many months, so many wallpapers or pictures changed.. But, if you put a super duper fatty bom bom girls wearing bikinis, looking very ugly, then you will start on your diet REAL SOON. Why? Its because you told yourself, I DON'T WANNA BE AS FAT AS HER!! NO WAY!!! So you will start dieting to PREVENT yourself from getting that fat. And once you've started your diet, you will give yourself a lil bit more pressure to make yourself go slimmer. You will somehow have the urge to break your own limit - see how much you can slim down for a week or a month. Or challenge yourself to skip lunch or dinner or watever that you normally failed to do so. Same goes to the reasons why, its always better to compare yourself with the poorer ones. Comparing yourself with the better ones are just too stressful. And too tiring.. If you are comparing yourself with the highest marks students, you will keep on forcing and forcing yourself to study non stop. And sooner or later you'll become a geek. or a nerd.. And maybe, in the end, after the examinations, you realised your results aint as good as what you've expected. In the contrary, if you compare yourself with those people who get lower marks than you, and everyone is like.. ''Yer how come your marks higher than me wan..Btw, Congrats..'' At that moment when you're trying to be a lil bit proud of yourself, start being humble.. =) By telling you yourself, this aint the best you can do.Its full marks yet. This group maybe you score the highest. But what about other groups? I bet some even scored full marks! By that time, you will wanna push yourself further more.. You wanna be better and better..You won't feel so stress and its more effective to get a much better results in your next exams compared to comparing yourself with those higher marks people.. Lastly, when you compare yourself with those millionares, who can simply own a Macbook, simply own a car, simply splurge on luxurious items, yes you will get jealous. And at the moment, you will feel motivated to study hard so that you can be one of them. But when you are working hard day and night, after a tiring day you will start asking yourself, why must i push myself up to this limit? Why must i make myself so damn exhausted? Just because i wanna spend like them? Just because i wanna buy anything without looking at the price tag? And by the time, you will suddenly change your mind - its ok to have what you are having now.. trying to appreciate things in front of you instead of dreaming so far.. But, when you look at some real life examples, like how your parents save this save that, cut cost on this cut cost on that, thinking hard how to earn money for your studies and so on.. you WILL be motivated to study hard in order to be richer.. Its because in the end of the tiring day of you being so hardworking revising your studies non stop, you will ask yourself : Why must i make myself so tired? why must i keep on pushing myself to be better? Its all because I wanna make my parents life easier.. I want them to get back twice as much as what they've sacrificed for me.. I don't want them to grow more and more white hairs because they are always worrying about money.. See? Usually the good reasons will motivate you better more instead of the greedy ones.. Comparing yourself with the poorer ones are not always bad right?.. =) |
